Burg Morstein
Gerabronn, Germany, Germany
Burg Morstein, also known as Schloss Morstein, is a well-preserved medieval castle located near Gerabronn in Baden-Württemberg, Germany.
Built during the 13th century by the Lords of Morstein, it stands on a rocky spur above the Jagst Valley and is an outstanding example of a Staufer-era fortress. The castle passed to the Lords of Crailsheim in the 14th century and has remained associated with that family ever since. After a major fire in 1571, the residential section was rebuilt in Renaissance style, giving the complex its distinctive blend of medieval defensive structures and later noble architecture.
Today, Burg Morstein remains one of the most impressive historic castles in the Hohenlohe region. Its surviving keep, towers, gatehouse, bridges, and Renaissance palace sections provide a vivid picture of centuries of noble life and regional history.
