Burg Trimberg
Germany, Germany
Burg Trimberg, also known as Trimburg, is a medieval hilltop castle ruin near the village of Trimberg in Bavaria, Germany. Built in the 12th century by the Lords of Trimberg, it stands on a ridge above the Franconian Saale Valley and offers impressive views of the surrounding countryside. The castle was expanded over the centuries and played an important regional role, but it suffered severe damage during the German Peasants' War in 1525 and again during the Thirty Years' War. Although parts of it were later rebuilt, much of the structure eventually fell into ruin, and some stone was reused for local construction projects. Today, Burg Trimberg is a well-known historical landmark and visitor attraction. Its preserved walls, towers, and courtyards provide a glimpse into medieval life, while cultural events and community activities help keep the site an important part of the region's heritage.
