Burg Wadendorf is a small historic hill castle located in the village of Wadendorf, part of Plankenfels in Bavaria’s Franconian Switzerland region.

The site was first mentioned in 1453, when the Lords of Königsfeld received permission from the Bishop of Bamberg to fortify their estate and develop it into a castle. The castle was heavily damaged during the German Peasants’ War in 1525 and later destroyed again during the Thirty Years’ War in 1638.

Despite these setbacks, it was rebuilt and passed through the hands of several noble families, including the von Aufseß, von Schlammersdorf, and von Egloffstein families. Today, Burg Wadendorf remains largely preserved and is known for its two-story main building, surviving ring wall, and round towers. After extensive restoration work in the late 20th century, it continues to stand as a distinctive landmark overlooking the Wiesent Valley.
