Burg Wahrberg
Aurach, Germany, Germany
Burg Wahrberg is a historic hilltop castle located near Aurach in Bavaria. Built around the early 13th century on a strategically important ridge, it was originally associated with the Bishopric of Eichstätt and helped control important trade and military routes through the region. The castle was destroyed during a regional conflict in 1316 but was later rebuilt and developed into an administrative center. Over the centuries, it underwent several renovations, including major changes in the 17th and 18th centuries, and parts of the complex were rebuilt again after a fire in the 19th century. Today, Burg Wahrberg remains a well-preserved landmark that combines medieval and later architectural features. It is privately owned and serves as a seminar and event venue, allowing visitors to experience the atmosphere of a historic Franconian castle while enjoying its scenic setting above the surrounding countryside.
