Burg Waldstetten
Waldstetten, Germany, Germany
Burg Waldstetten was a medieval hilltop castle located on the “Schlossberg” near Waldstetten, Germany.
It was probably built during the 13th or 14th century by the Lords of Rechberg and served as the center of the local lordship in the area. The castle was destroyed on 1 September 1449 during the South German Cities' War and was never rebuilt.
Over time, most of the structure disappeared, leaving only traces of its defensive earthworks. Today, Burg Waldstetten is considered a castle ruin site rather than a standing building. Visitors can still see remnants of the former moat and the historic location on the wooded ridge, which offers a glimpse into the region’s medieval past.
