Burg Wildentierberg
Albstadt, Germany, Germany
Burg Wildentierberg is the remains of a small medieval hilltop castle located on a rocky spur called the Kugelbergle near the village of Margrethausen in the Albstadt area of the Zollernalbkreis, Baden‑Württemberg, Germany.
The castle was built in the 13th century as a compact Höhenburg, serving as a modest noble outpost in the Swabian Jura, and was already abandoned around the year 1400. Today only faint traces of the former walls and the layout of the inner and outer bailey are visible in the ground, so the site is best understood as a wooded, atmospheric ruin rather than a fully preserved structure.
The location lies within a protected landscape area and is often combined with hikes through the surrounding hills and valleys near Albstadt.
