Burgruine Baldenberg

Burgruine Baldenberg is the remains of a former medieval hilltop castle located on the Dreifaltigkeitsberg, a long, 970‑meter‑high rock spur about 2,000 meters east of the town centre of Spaichingen in the Tuttlingen district of Baden‑Württemberg, Germany.

The spur, once called Baldenberg before the name was transferred to the church, was inhabited as early as prehistoric times and later became the site of a noble castle documented in the 13th century as held by the Herren von Balgheim. 

Today the original castle is largely gone, leaving only a powerful wall belt northwest of the chapel and traceable ditch lines of the outer and main baileys, so the site is best understood as an overgrown Burgstall that offers a historic atmosphere and fine views rather than clearly defined standing ruins.
