Burgruine Hohenberneck is a late medieval castle ruin situated on a hill above the spa town of Bad Berneck im Fichtelgebirge in Bavaria.

The castle was built from 1478 onward by Veit von Wallenrode and later completed by Albrecht von Wirsberg, eventually serving as an administrative center for the Margraves of Brandenburg-Kulmbach. Although its importance declined during the 16th century, the castle remained associated with the Wallenrode family for many years before gradually falling into ruin.

By the 18th century it was largely abandoned, and the remains became a prominent historic landmark overlooking the town. Today, visitors can explore substantial sections of the restored ruins, including parts of the defensive walls, gateways, and former castle complex. Its elevated location offers impressive views of Bad Berneck and the surrounding Fichtelgebirge landscape, making it one of the region’s most notable medieval sites.
