Burgruine
Laugna, Germany, Germany
The Burgruine in Laugna refers to the ruins of Burg Bocksberg, a medieval hilltop castle located above the village of Bocksberg, part of the municipality of Laugna in Bavaria, Germany. Built in the early 13th century as the seat of the Lords of Bocksberg, the castle occupied a strategic position overlooking the surrounding valley. Over the centuries, the fortress changed ownership several times, including periods under the Stetten and Fugger families. It suffered repeated damage in wars and was finally devastated during the Thirty Years’ War, after which it was never rebuilt. Today, the site preserves traces of its medieval past, including earthworks, defensive ditches, and part of the former keep. The freely accessible ruins are a local landmark and are also used for community events, giving visitors a glimpse into the region’s rich medieval history.
