Burgruine Pfannenstiel
Beuron, Germany, Germany
Burgruine Pfannenstiel near Beuron, Germany, is a high medieval spur castle ruin from around 1250, built on a narrow rocky ridge at 804 meters elevation above the Bära river valley in the Swabian Alb, with unknown noble builders.
Its overgrown remnants include a prominent 5.5-meter donjon stump, partial ring walls of small-quarried and rubble stone, a forecourt separated by a ditch, and a former access path, abandoned by 1400 when owned by the Lords of Urbach.
Owned today by the Princes of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen since 1803 secularization, the free-access site amid forests draws hikers for its panoramic views despite minimal preservation.
