Burgruine Salmendingen, often called the “Altes Schloss,” is the remains of a medieval hilltop castle on a 845‑meter‑high spur directly south of the village of Salmendingen, which belongs to the town of Burladingen in the Zollernalbkreis of Baden‑Württemberg, Germany.

The fortress was probably built in the 13th century by the local noble family von Salmendingen as their main seat and was first mentioned in a document from 1245. Over time the castle declined and was already described as a “Burgstall” by 1386, meaning it had largely fallen into ruin, and later parts of its stone were even used as a quarry, for example for a local fire‑pond built in 1791.

Today only fragments of the original layout remain, including sections of the former keep and traces of the outer walls, so the site is more of a quiet, wooded historical landmark than a fully preserved castle, easily combined with walks through the surrounding hills of the Swabian Jura.
