Burgruine Staufen is the ruins of a medieval hilltop castle located high above the town of Staufen im Breisgau in Baden-Württemberg, Germany, perched prominently on a 375-meter limestone hill at the northern edge of the city.

Built in the early 12th century by the Lords of Staufen, particularly around 1100 by Adalbert von Staufen, the castle was originally constructed to protect the rich silver mines in Münstertal, which served as the main source of income for the noble family. The castle was first mentioned in written records in 1248 and remained in possession of the Staufen family until the 17th century, though it stopped being inhabited in 1607.

During the Thirty Years' War, Swedish troops occupied and destroyed the undefended castle in 1632, leaving it as a ruin. In 1895–1896, the town of Staufen purchased the ruins from the Freiherrn von Mentzingen for 18,000 marks and renovated them, with further renovations occurring in 1954 and 1960.

Today, the castle ruins are an important tourist attraction that is freely accessible year-round without any entrance fee, and while there is no restaurant or kiosk on-site, visitors can explore the medieval ruins and enjoy impressive views of the surrounding vineyards and the Black Forest. The site is believed to have been built on the location of an ancient Roman watchtower, adding even deeper historical significance to the location.
