Burgruine Ziegelhöhlenburg
Fridingen, Germany, Germany
Burgruine Ziegelhöhlenburg is the remains of a small medieval Höhlenburg (cave fortress) perched at about 680 meters above sea level on a rocky spur above the Donau valley near the town of Fridingen an der Donau in the Tuttlingen district of Baden‑Württemberg, Germany.
The fortress was built roughly between 1100 and 1150 and likely belonged to the local nobility of Fridingen, serving as a defensive or refuge site before being abandoned in the second half of the 13th century. Today only scattered fragments of masonry and the original cave in the rock face are still visible, so the site is now a quiet, overgrown Burgstall that hikers may pass on routes through the Donauwelle landscape rather than a major standing ruin.
