Burgstelle Randeck
Bissingen, Germany, Germany
Burgstelle Randeck is the site of a former medieval hilltop castle located near Bissingen an der Teck on the edge of the Swabian Alb in Baden-Württemberg.
The castle was built in the second half of the 13th century by Konrad von Neidlingen, and his son Heinrich von Randeck is first recorded using the castle’s name in 1292. The fortress stood in a strategic position overlooking the surrounding valleys and remained occupied by the Lords of Randeck until the 15th century.
By the late 17th century it had already fallen into ruin, and today only traces of the site survive, including earthworks, foundation remains, and sections of the former defensive ditch. Although little of the structure remains, the site is valued for its historical importance and scenic location. Visitors can still see remnants of the medieval fortifications while enjoying views of the Swabian Alb landscape.
