Castelo de Pedras Altas, located in the municipality of Pedras Altas in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, is a castle built between 1909 and 1913 in a medieval style by the diplomat Joaquim Francisco de Assis Brasil.

It was constructed to honor his second wife, Dona Lydia Pereira Felício de São Mamede, a descendant of Portuguese nobility, and to create a noble residence that reflected European architectural traditions. The castle features 44 rooms, including grand halls, libraries, and bedrooms, with construction materials sourced from local granite and imported European elements, showcasing a blend of Gothic and medieval influences.

The castle played a significant role in local history, serving as the residence of Assis Brasil himself and as a site of historic events such as the signing of the Peace Treaty ending the 1923 Revolution of Rio Grande do Sul, symbolizing political reconciliation.

Over the decades, it has become a cultural monument, designated as a historical heritage site in 1999, and today it is a tourist attraction that highlights Brazil’s regional history, architecture, and the legacy of Assis Brasil, a prominent figure in Brazilian history .
