Castle & Castle Garden Königs Wusterhausen is a historic royal residence in the town of Königs Wusterhausen, southeast of Berlin.

Originally founded on the site of a medieval water castle, it became the favorite residence of the Prussian King Frederick William I, known as the “Soldier King,” who used it as a hunting lodge, government retreat, and gathering place for his famous Tobacco Collegium meetings. The castle played an important role in Prussian history and gave the town its royal prefix “Königs” in 1717.

Its relatively simple and practical design reflected the king’s preference for modest living compared with the grand Baroque palaces of his predecessors. Today, the restored castle serves as a museum showcasing Prussian history, royal life, and original interiors. The surrounding castle garden and grounds provide a pleasant setting for visitors, making the site one of Brandenburg’s most significant cultural and historical attractions.
