Castle in Olsztyn, located in Poland's Silesian Voivodeship near Częstochowa, is a 13th-century Gothic ruin on the Trail of the Eagles' Nests, built by King Casimir the Great as part of fortifications protecting Lesser Poland from Silesian and Bohemian incursions.
Situated on a limestone hill amid dramatic rocky terrain, it features remnants of defensive walls, a prominent 35-meter cylindrical tower used as a prison, and traces of a palas, chapel, and gates, expanded under dukes like Władysław Opolczyk.
Captured by Swedes in 1655 during the Deluge, it fell into decay, was partially dismantled in 1722 for local church construction, and now stands as a scenic tourist site with panoramic views.
