Chateau Vizovice is a magnificent late Baroque château located in the town of Vizovice in the Zlín Region of eastern Czechia. Built in the mid-18th century for Hermann Hannibal von Blümegen, a church dignitary who later became Bishop of Hradec Králové, the château was designed by the renowned architect František Antonín Grimm in an elegant French-inspired style. Often regarded as one of the most beautiful Baroque châteaux in Moravia, it features richly decorated interiors showcasing Baroque, Rococo, Empire, and Biedermeier styles. The château houses valuable collections of paintings, including works by Dutch masters and Czech artists, as well as fine porcelain, oriental objects, and historic furnishings. The estate also includes a landscaped château garden with French and English influences, ornamental sculptures, a pond, and a chapel decorated by the noted Moravian sculptor Ondřej Schweigl. Today, Chateau Vizovice is a popular cultural and tourist attraction, offering visitors a glimpse into aristocratic life in Moravia while highlighting the region’s architectural, artistic, and historical heritage.
