Chehel Dokhtaran is a historic Seljuk-era minaret located in the Jouybareh district of Isfahan, Iran.
Built in 1112, it is one of the oldest dated minarets in Iran and is considered an important example of early Islamic architecture in the region. The brick tower is about 40 meters high and is decorated with intricate brickwork and a Kufic inscription that records its construction date.
Its name, Chehel Dokhtaran, means “Forty Girls,” although the exact origin of the name remains unknown. Today, the minaret is a significant historical monument and a symbol of Isfahan’s rich architectural and cultural heritage.
