Comoé National Park in northeastern Côte d'Ivoire is one of the most biodiverse savannah ecosystems in the world, hosting about 620 plant species and around 135 mammal species. The park features varied habitats including deciduous woodlands, gallery forests, floodplains, grasslands, freshwater swamps, and rocky hills, shaped by the Comoé River and its tributaries.
Wildlife includes endangered and threatened species such as elephants, chimpanzees, African wild dogs, hippos, various antelopes, and a variety of primates. There are over 500 bird species, including migratory birds and notable species like hornbills and vultures, as well as reptiles including three crocodile species. The park supports a rich diversity of amphibians and fish too.
Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site, it plays a crucial role in conserving unique West African flora and fauna and their natural ecosystems.
