Dahanu is a coastal town and municipal council in Palghar district of Maharashtra, located 110 kilometers from Mumbai in the Konkan division on India's western coast along the Arabian Sea.

The name "Dahanu" originates from "Dhenu Gram," meaning "cow village," reflecting the historical significance of cattle ownership among its residents. The town experiences hot and humid weather for most of the year, with pleasant conditions from October to February, and has an average elevation of about 9.89 meters.

Dahanu is famous for its rose gardens, coconut groves, and exceptional production of chiku (sapodilla/sapota) fruit, accounting for 35% of Maharashtra's total output, and the local economy includes agriculture of chiku, coconut, rubber, as well as industries like balloon manufacturing and rice mills. The town houses Adani Power's 2x250MW thermal power station that supplies electricity to Mumbai, making it a major commercial and industrial center.

Dahanu is recognized as a popular weekend getaway for Mumbai tourists, offering several beautiful beaches, dams for sightseeing, and notable religious sites including the historic Mahalaxmi Temple built in 1306 by Koli king Jayaba Mukne and the Gaondevi Mandir in Chinchani.
