The Dubuque Arboretum and Botanical Gardens in Dubuque, Iowa, was established in 1980 after a 51-acre land donation that included meadows and walnut timber.
The arboretum now covers 56 acres and is maintained entirely by volunteers, with about 300 people involved in its care. It features more than 60 themed gardens including Japanese and English gardens, hosta and rose collections, an herb garden, and a veterans memorial. The arboretum is open year-round with free admission and offers walking trails, ponds with koi fish, and peaceful green spaces that attract around 55,000 visitors annually.
It has a visitor center and hosts educational programs and events, making it a beloved outdoor oasis for community enjoyment and horticultural appreciation.
