Duthie Park
Aberdeen, United Kingdom, United Kingdom
Duthie Park is a popular Victorian‑era public park of about 44 acres in the Ferryhill area of Aberdeen, located near the River Dee and donated to the city in 1880 by Miss Elizabeth Crombie Duthie for the wellbeing and recreation of local residents.
It features restored historic elements such as a bandstand, fountains, ponds, statues, and tree‑lined avenues, as well as a large children’s play area often rated among the best in Scotland, sports facilities, and a café that draws families and walkers year‑round.
At the heart of the park stands the David Welch Winter Gardens, a substantial indoor botanical house housing one of Scotland’s largest and most visited public plant collections, including among the biggest bromeliad and cactus displays in Great Britain, making Duthie Park both a green leisure space and a major horticultural destination in the city.
