Verified East Lambrook Manor

East Lambrook, England, United Kingdom

East Lambrook Manor is a small 15th‑century manor house in the village of East Lambrook, Somerset, surrounded by one of England’s most famous cottage gardens.

The garden was developed between 1938 and 1969 by the plantswoman and gardening writer Margery Fish, who filled the site with a dense, informal mix of old‑fashion menor and unusual plants, creating winding paths, themed “garden rooms,” and a legendary snowdrop‑filled ditch.

The whole garden is Grade I listed and widely regarded as a premier example of the English cottage‑garden style, known for its low‑maintenance planting, strong geranium collections, and soft, romantic planting. Today the manor remains a private home but the gardens are open to visitors for much of the year, with a nursery, tea room, and art gallery, offering a peaceful, richly planted retreat in the Somerset countryside.
