Ehemaliges Schloss Inzigkofen
Inzigkofen, Germany, Germany
Ehemaliges Schloss Inzigkofen in Inzigkofen, Germany, evolved from an Augustiner-Chorfrauenstift founded around 1340 within a 14th-century medieval burg (Utkoven), later expanded into a well-preserved Baroque monastery complex from 1659-1663 featuring a prominent church tower, konvent buildings, and surrounding walls.
After secularization in 1803, Princes of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen transformed the former Amtshaus into a Neoclassical summer residence for Fürstin Amalie Zephyrine from 1810-1848, complete with the adjacent Fürstlicher Park's romantic gardens, grottos, and chapels straddling the Danube.
Acquired by the municipality in 2002, the landmark now functions as a cultural center with a Volkshochschule, museum, herb garden, and event spaces, celebrated as one of Southwest Germany's best-preserved monastic sites.
