Festung Hohenasperg is a prominent hilltop fortress overlooking the town of Asperg in Baden-Württemberg.

The site has a history spanning more than 2,000 years, serving first as an important Celtic stronghold around 500 BC before becoming a medieval castle and later a major fortress of the Duchy of Württemberg. From the 16th century onward, the castle was expanded into a powerful military fortification. It played a significant role in regional conflicts and was renowned for its strategic location, with steep slopes and commanding views across the surrounding landscape.

Since the early 18th century, Hohenasperg has been best known as a prison, holding many political prisoners, writers, and reformers over the centuries. Today, parts of the complex remain in use by the justice system, while a museum documents its history, making the fortress one of the most historically significant landmarks in the Stuttgart and Ludwigsburg region.
