The Foellinger-Freimann Botanical Conservatory in downtown Fort Wayne, Indiana, opened in 1983 as a $4.5 million project funded by donations from the Foellinger Foundation and the Frank Freimann Charitable Trust.
The conservatory covers about 25,000 square feet indoors within a 100,000-square-foot total garden area, featuring a tropical oasis display with a waterfall, a Sonoran Desert display with various cacti, and an outdoor terrace with exploration gardens. It houses over 1,200 plants representing more than 500 species, including exotic tropicals, desert flora, and seasonal showcase gardens that change throughout the year.
The conservatory acts as a green sanctuary in the urban core, providing visitors with immersive natural experiences year-round in a beautifully maintained setting.
