Construction on this Maade fort, along with nearby Rüstersiel and Schaar forts, began after a tender announcement in 1876 and wrapped up by 1880, featuring earthen ramparts connected by a circumferential road with field railway tracks for defense coordination near the Maade River and Ems-Jade Canal.
Initially armed with ten 15-cm L/22 cannons and eight 12-cm guns, the site now stands as a vanished historical monument amid the coastal landscape, reflecting Germany's imperial military past.
