Friedinger Schlössle
Singen, Germany, Germany
Friedinger Schlössle, also known as Burg Hohenfriedingen, is the only surviving intact medieval knight's castle among the Hegau region's seven ruins, perched on the 543-meter Friedinger Schlossberg overlooking Singen-Friedingen in Germany's Konstanz district, Baden-Württemberg. Built around 1170 by King Konrad I and later owned by Konstanz's Schwarz family before passing to the noble Bodmans, it endured destruction in the Swiss War, Thirty Years' War, and World War II, with repeated restorations preserving its hilltop form. Today, this iconic local landmark at Schlossbergstraße 44 serves as a popular venue for events like knightly feasts (Rittermahle), weddings, mystery dinners, and picnics, offering stunning views of the Singener lowlands, Hegau hills, Lake Constance, and distant Alps.
