Furzey Gardens near Minstead in the New Forest, United Kingdom, began in the early 1920s when the Dalrymple family, an aristocratic military family from Scotland, purchased land on the edge of Minstead and developed it as an informal woodland garden.

The 12-acre garden is renowned for its collection of botanically and historically significant plants, including vibrant rhododendrons, azaleas, and exotic shrubs sourced from around the world. Within the gardens lies Furzey House, built in 1922 for the Dalrymple brothers, which once claimed to have the biggest thatched roof in the New Forest and now serves as a retreat center.

The garden also features quirky thatched structures, a lake, wildflower meadows, and fairy doors, creating an enchanting atmosphere. Furzey Gardens are maintained as part of the Minstead Trust, which supports people with learning disabilities through training programs where they actively tend to the gardens, blending horticultural heritage, community service, and natural beauty.
