Genesee Country Village & Museum, located in Mumford, New York, is a large 19th-century living history museum covering over 600 acres. Founded in 1966, it recreates a historic village with 68 restored buildings, including homes, farms, shops, and public buildings typical of rural communities in western New York during the 1800s.
Visitors can experience the village with costumed interpreters demonstrating period crafts and trades such as blacksmithing, weaving, pottery, and farming. The museum also features the John L. Wehle Gallery of Sporting Art, a Carriage Museum, a Nature Center with hiking trails, and seasonal events that bring 19th-century life to life.
It offers interactive programs for all ages, making history immersive and engaging, and is one of the largest living history museums in New York and among the largest in the United States.
