The Georgia Perimeter College Botanical Garden, located on the Decatur campus of Georgia State University’s Perimeter College in Georgia, United States, is a 4-acre garden featuring over 4,000 species of native, rare, and endangered plants from the Southeastern U.S. Established in 1990 by botanist George Sanko, the garden is dedicated to preserving and showcasing these native plants.
It includes two main areas: the Native Plant Garden with sections such as the Shade and Sun gardens, Southeastern bog plants, and xeric beds, and the Ferns of the World Garden, which houses one of the largest collections of ferns in the U.S. or possibly the world.
The garden offers about three-quarters of a mile of walking trails where visitors can explore diverse plant life including trees, shrubs, vines, perennials, and carnivorous plants. It is open daily from dawn to dusk, free to the public, and is also involved in pollinator-friendly initiatives, making it both an educational and environmentally significant green space.
