Gołuchów Castle in Gołuchów, Greater Poland Voivodeship, Poland, is an early Renaissance fortress built between 1550 and 1560 by Rafał Leszczyński as a defensive residence on a square plan near the Trzemna River, featuring corner octagonal towers, a moat, and embrasures for protection. Expanded in the early 17th century by his son Wacław with a southern residential wing and arcaded cloister, it later fell into neglect before a major 19th-century Historicist renovation inspired by French Renaissance châteaux of the Loire Valley, incorporating antique elements from Europe and neo-Gothic details like extended towers and slate roofs. Today, the well-preserved castle, surrounded by a park, houses a branch of the National Museum in Poznań, displaying historic interiors, art collections including ancient Greek vases, and architectural highlights like sculpted portals and sgrafitto decorations.
