Gordon Beach is one of Tel Aviv’s most popular and family-friendly beaches, located in the heart of central Tel Aviv just steps off HaYarkon Street and right beneath the Renaissance Tel Aviv Hotel.

It is a classic Blue Flag beach with fine golden sand, beautiful aquamarine Mediterranean waters, and well-staffed lifeguard stations during the warm season, making it a safe spot for swimming and sunbathing. The beach is divided into two main inlet areas: the north side is ideal for learning to surf with regular kids’ surfing lessons throughout summer, while the south side has calmer water perfect for swimming with gentle waves.

Gordon Beach offers abundant amenities including outdoor showers, foot-washing stations, public restrooms, sunloungers, ice-cream shops, beach restaurants with tables right on the sand, a kiosk for snacks and beach toys, vending machines for prepaying loungers and umbrellas, and even a free “beach library” based on an honor system where visitors can borrow books to read while relaxing.

It is a hub for fitness and activities, featuring one of Tel Aviv’s nicest outdoor gyms, volleyball courts, a marina with the nearby Gordon Swimming Pool (members-only but day passes available), and lively Matkot (Israeli paddle ball) players, with group folk dancing often happening on the boardwalk on Saturdays. Due to its convenient central location, it’s immensely popular with locals and tourists, so it can get crowded—arriving early is recommended—and it’s easily accessible by walking straight up Gordon Street back into the city for any amenities.
