The Green Museum Palace (more commonly called the Green Palace Museum or Shahvand Palace) is a royal residence and museum located in the Sa’dabad Palace Complex in northern Tehran, Iran. It was built between 1922 and 1928 as the first Pahlavi building in the complex and served as Reza Shah’s summer palace, later becoming a guest house and then a museum after the 1979 revolution. The palace is famous for its green marble exterior, made from green stone from the Khomseh mine in Zanjan and marble from Khorasan, and has two floors with a total area of about 1,200 square meters, including a magnificent Mirror Hall in which Mohammad Reza Shah held his ceremonial office, as well as lavish dining halls, decorated rooms, and fine furnishings, carpets, lamps, and plasterwork. Visitors must buy a separate ticket, cover their shoes with plastic, and are not allowed to take photographs inside, but they can use a golf‑type vehicle to reach the palace from the main gate and enjoy views of the surrounding mountains from its balconies.
