Hamamoto Gardens / Tropical Fruit World
Windward Hills, Guam, United States
Hamamoto Gardens, also known as Tropical Fruit World, is a 50-acre farm and botanical garden located in the Windward Hills area of Guam.
Opened in 1996 by Hisamitsu Hamamoto, a Japanese farmer who moved to Guam in 1974, it originally operated as an ecotourism venture showcasing a diverse collection of tropical fruit trees, including some vanishing native plants like mansanan paotaki and camachili tree.
The gardens offer guided tours, tractor rides, and opportunities to see unique fruits such as sugar apples and egg fruit, although visitors need to book in advance due to the farm's small staff. In recent years, the farm was acquired by Guam Sustainable Culture in 2024 with the goal of developing a Food Resiliency Hub to promote sustainable and indigenous farming practices, food sovereignty, and community education.
The property features a fruit forest, walking trails, and a community kitchen in development, continuing the legacy of conservation and agricultural education in Guam.
