Hammerschloss Röthenbach

Kohlberg, Germany, Germany

---

Hammerschloss Röthenbach is a historic manor castle in the village of Röthenbach, part of Kohlberg in Bavaria, Germany.

Built in 1678 by Hans Andreas von Schönstett, it developed around an earlier ironworks site that had been an important center of metal production since the Middle Ages. The estate includes a notable chapel dedicated to the Immaculate Conception, built in the 1720s, as well as former brewery and industrial buildings that reflect the area's long history of ironworking and glass production.

Over the centuries, the property belonged to several prominent families, including the von Grafenstein family, who owned it for more than 200 years. Although parts of the castle suffered a major collapse during renovation work in 2012, efforts have since been made to preserve and restore the complex. Today, Hammerschloss Röthenbach remains an important cultural landmark that highlights the industrial and aristocratic heritage of the Upper Palatinate region.
