Harris Garden
Reading, England, United Kingdom
Harris Garden is a 12‑acre botanical garden on the University of Reading’s Whiteknights Campus, about two miles south of Reading town centre in Berkshire.
It was established in 1972 as a teaching and research resource and later renamed in memory of Professor Tom Harris, a noted palaeobotanist and gardener, with further expansion completed in the late 1980s. The garden combines formal and informal areas, including a walled garden, a heather garden, wildflower meadows, coppice woodland, and streams, hosting thousands of plant species and a wide range of wildlife.
It is open to everyone from dawn to dusk, serving both as a quiet green space for students and local visitors and as a site for conservation, education, and occasional public events supported by the Friends of the Harris Garden.
