Harvalem Waterfalls, also known as Arvalem Falls, is a scenic waterfall located in Kudne near Sanquelim in North Goa, India, at Rudreshwar Colony, Kudne, Goa 403505. The waterfall drops from a height of about 50 meters (some sources say 70 meters) with a width of around 7 meters, creating a powerful cascade that flows into a quiet pool below surrounded by rocky cliffs and lush green forest. It is at its most magnificent during the monsoon season (June to September) when the rains make it a gushing torrent, and the best time to visit is during or just after the monsoon, while in winter and summer the falls reduce to a silvery trickle though the lake at the bottom remains a popular swimming spot. The waterfall is easily accessible with no trekking required, has no entry fee, and is just a short walk from the parking area to the viewpoint, making it perfect for families and friends. The government has built and maintained a park near the falls with benches and open spots for picnics, and nearby attractions include the ancient 6th-century Arvalem rock-cut caves (believed to be carved by Buddhist monks or associated with the Pandavas), the Rudreshwar temple with stone steps leading up beside the waterfall, an old arched bridge that offers great photo opportunities, and Mayem lake. The waterfall is about 30 kilometers from Panaji, with transport available from Panaji and Mapusa, and is celebrated as a serene, less crowded alternative to Goa's famous Dudhsagar Falls, offering a peaceful escape into nature.
