Hegyesdi Várrom is the remains of a medieval hilltop castle located near the village of Hegyesd in the Balaton Uplands of western Hungary.

Built in the second half of the 13th century on a 281‑meter-high volcanic hill, it originally served as part of Hungary’s defensive system against future invasions. The castle changed hands several times during the Middle Ages and became strategically important during the Ottoman wars. In 1561, Ottoman forces captured the fortress, but Hungarian troops recaptured it the following year after a siege.

Soon afterward, the castle was deliberately demolished because it was considered too vulnerable to defend effectively. Today, only modest ruins and traces of the castle walls remain, but the site is valued for its historical significance and striking setting. Visitors can follow a nature trail to the summit and enjoy panoramic views over the Tapolca Basin, the surrounding volcanic hills, and Lake Balaton.
