The Hel Peninsula is a long, narrow sand‑bar spit in northern Poland, stretching about 34–35 km into the Baltic Sea parallel to the coast between the Gulf of Gdańsk and the quieter Puck Bay.

It lies in the Pomeranian Voivodeship and is one of the country’s most distinctive coastal features, with wide sandy beaches, pine forests, dunes, and several small resort‑style settlements such as Chałupy, Kuźnica, Jastarnia, Jurata, and the town of Hel at its northern tip. The peninsula is a popular summer destination known for its clean sands, clear waters, and activities like windsurfing, kitesurfing, sailing, and beach walks, while also preserving a strong maritime and fishing heritage.

Around Hel town you find the Hel Marine Station and Seal Sanctuary, historic lighthouses, former coastal‑defense fortifications, and museums that trace the area’s military and naval history, making it a mix of seaside holiday spot and open‑air museum on Poland’s northern coast.
