The estate dates back to the Middle Ages and was first associated with the local Lords of Bannacker before being transferred to Augsburg’s Holy Spirit Hospital in the 13th century. In the early 19th century, the property was acquired by Baron Johann Gottlieb Süßkind, who built an elegant summer residence and decorated its interiors lavishly. Later owners included the Fugger-Babenhausen family, who modernized the estate and used it for agricultural and equestrian purposes. Today, Herrenhaus Bannacker is a protected heritage building and part of a larger historic ensemble that includes a farmstead and chapel. It serves as a venue for cultural events, concerts, weddings, and private functions, while preserving its historic character and connection to Augsburg’s noble past.
