Ichkel National Park in the Bizerte Governorate of northern Tunisia is a UNESCO World Heritage site recognized for its ecological significance as a major stopover for hundreds of thousands of migratory birds each year. The park features Lake Ichkel, a shallow freshwater lake connected to the Mediterranean Sea, surrounded by marshes and a wooded mountain, creating a diverse habitat for wildlife.

It is home to species such as ducks, geese, storks, and pink flamingos, making it one of the most important wetlands in the western Mediterranean region.

The lake's unique hydrological system involves seasonal changes in water levels and salinity, supporting over 200 animal species and more than 500 plant species. Ichkel National Park is also designated as a Ramsar Wetland and a biosphere reserve, highlighting its global ecological value and the ongoing efforts to conserve its rich biodiversity.
