Jagdschloss Luitpoldhöhe
Weibersbrunn, Germany, Germany
Jagdschloss Luitpoldhöhe is a historic hunting lodge located near Weibersbrunn in the Spessart forest of Bavaria, Germany. It was built in 1889 for Prince Regent Luitpold of Bavaria as a base for royal hunting excursions, particularly wild boar hunts in the extensive surrounding woodlands. Designed by architect Max von Siebert in a traditional Franconian half-timbered style, the lodge was intended to be elegant yet relatively modest compared to the lavish palaces of King Ludwig II. Its architecture blends local character with the appearance of a prestigious royal residence. The hunting lodge became closely associated with Prince Regent Luitpold, who was known for his popularity and frequent visits to the region. After the end of the Bavarian monarchy, the building was used by the state forestry administration. Today, it remains a distinctive landmark of the Spessart and an important reminder of Bavaria’s royal hunting traditions.
