Jalaledin Castle is a historic fortress located near Garmeh in North Khorasan Province, northeastern Iran.

Built on top of a rocky hill overlooking the surrounding plains, it is considered one of the region’s most important examples of military architecture and is generally dated to the 6th and 7th centuries AH (12th to 13th centuries CE). The castle has a distinctive hexagonal design with six round towers, thick defensive walls, guardrooms, storage spaces, and facilities for storing water and food, allowing it to withstand long periods of siege.

Its elevated location gave defenders a clear view of major routes across the area. Many historians associate the fortress with Sultan Jalal al-Din Khwarazmshah and the period of resistance against the Mongol invasions, although its exact origins remain debated. Today, the restored castle also serves as a museum and stands as an important symbol of Iran’s medieval history and cultural heritage.
