Jashpur Nagar, the administrative headquarters of Jashpur district in Chhattisgarh, India, was formerly the capital of the princely state of Jashpur before independence.

The region's history includes a legacy of local dynasties, with evidence suggesting that the Dom dynasty ruled the area in the mid-18th century before being overthrown by Sujan Rai, who founded the present Jashpur State.

This state later became part of the British-administered Eastern States Agency and eventually merged with independent India in 1948. Geographically, Jashpur district features a diverse landscape divided into a northern hilly belt called Upper Ghat and a southern part known as Nichghat, characterized by forests and natural beauty.
