Jensen-Olson Arboretum
Juneau, Alaska, United States
The Jensen-Olson Arboretum in Juneau, Alaska, is a 14-acre garden located on the shores of Pearl Harbor that opened to the public in 2007.
It originated from the vision and generosity of Caroline Jensen, a longtime resident and Master Gardener, who donated the property with the aim of creating a place that teaches and inspires learning in horticulture, natural sciences, and landscaping.
The arboretum preserves the historical and cultural context of the site, featuring nearly 1,000 native and cultivated plant species with a nationally recognized collection of over 170 Primula (primrose) varieties.
Set in a temperate rainforest environment, the garden offers opportunities for scientific research, education, and public enjoyment amid coastal rainforest weather. It includes native trees and horticultural specimens, some over fifty years old, and is a certified Level II Arboretum accredited by ArbNet.
The arboretum is managed with a focus on preservation, education, and community engagement, providing a unique botanical resource for Southeast Alaska.
