Kadmat Island
Lakshadweep , India
Kadmat Island, also known as Cardamom Island, is a long, narrow coral island in the Lakshadweep archipelago in the Arabian Sea off India’s southwest coast, lying about 407 km from Kochi.
It is part of the Amindivi subgroup and is one of the larger islands in Lakshadweep, running roughly 8–11 km in length but only about half a kilometre wide at its broadest point, with a very low elevation above the sea. The island is surrounded by a shallow lagoon on the western side and a narrow lagoon on the east, creating calm, turquoise waters that are ideal for snorkeling, scuba diving, kayaking, and other water sports.
Kadmat is known for its pristine white‑sand beaches, rich marine life, coral reefs, and guided “marine‑wealth” tourism packages, while remaining a relatively quiet and ecologically sensitive destination managed with controlled visitor numbers and basic resort‑style accommodation.
