Kasarkod Beach
Karnataka, India
Kasarkod Beach (also called Eco Beach) is a pristine, 5-kilometre stretch of white sand in Uttara Kannada district, Karnataka, located about 4 km from Honnavar along the Arabian Sea, famous for being Karnataka’s first Blue Flag–certified beach and India’s first eco-themed beach.
The beach is encircled by a dense Casuarina forest, giving it a secluded, tranquil atmosphere with turquoise waters, mangrove patches and lush greenery, making it one of the cleanest and least crowded beaches on the Konkan coast. It’s jointly developed by the Karnataka Tourism Department, Forest Department and Kasarkod Village Forest Committee to promote eco-tourism, and it offers essential amenities such as clean washrooms, changing rooms, lifeguard services, a first-aid room, filtered drinking water, seating areas and a 750-metre safe swimming zone within a 2.5 km stretch.
Visitors can enjoy sunbathing, swimming, leisurely walks along the powdery sand, stunning sunsets and water sports like jet skiing, parasailing and banana boat rides, while the beach also features an old lighthouse, solar lighting, and solid and greywater treatment plants that support its eco-friendly credentials. The best time to visit is during the winter months, especially mornings and evenings when the weather is cool and pleasant, and entry costs INR 20 per adult (free for young children), with timings from around 8:30 AM to 6:30 PM daily.
