Kaunghmudaw Pagoda, located near Sagaing in Myanmar, is one of the country’s most distinctive Buddhist monuments.

Built between 1636 and 1648 during the reign of King Thalun, the pagoda is famous for its unusual large egg-shaped dome, which was inspired by the Ruwanwelisaya Pagoda in Sri Lanka and differs from the more traditional tiered pagodas found in Myanmar.

The pagoda is an important pilgrimage site believed to house sacred Buddhist relics and features a massive marble Buddha statue within its structure.
